The quickest and simplest way to convert floating-point numbers into integers is to use the int function. This strips off the fractional part of the floating-point number and returns the integer part. $int = int($float); However, int is not very intelligent about how it calculates the integer part. First, it truncates the fractional part of a floating-point number and so only rounds down, which may not be what we want. Second, it does not take into account the problems of precision, which can affect the result of floating-point calculations.
